The Miami Herald—Prosecutor of Kids now Mentor to Them

Four years ago, Mark Eiglarsh was a prosecutor in the Miami-Dade state attorney's office, where he saw an increasing number of young people being accused of violent crimes. It disturbed him greatly.

"I, with tears in my eyes, sent hundreds of kids to prison after convicting them of serious crimes," he said.

Eiglarsh began to think that if there were some way to "turn back the clock," he could make a difference in someone's life.

Today, the ex-prosecutor mentors on young man and heads Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami's 15-member volunteer recruitment committee, whose goal is to find other badly needed mentors.
